Tutorial #2 - Main unit support assembly

I don't want to delay you with long readings, so I'll use pictures a lot and point you out important things. It's easy, let's get to it. If necessary, you can watch the video. You will find the whole assembly procedure there.

Assembly takes about 60 minutes.

At this tutorial we will assemble Main unit support. It's front part of the Vitulus robot which hold Main unit.

STEP 1.

Assemble the 10 pin connectors, you'll need 4 pieces. For one connector you need PCB, 10 pin header 90°, 10 pin header and printed parts. Solder headers to PCB and assemble it in printed parts. Follow the pictures. Source files for PCB are on GitLab, follow the link in part list above.

STEP 4.

Put the body parts together. Use threaded rods M3x215 mm. Screw on the threaded rods to one half of M3x8 nuts and fix it by screw. Insert the serrated lock washer and 3.2x9 washer on the rods. Insert the rods into the body. Put the washers on the other side and screw on the nuts. Both sides have same nuts and washers. Tighten firmly but carefully. Finally remove the screws used to fix the nuts.

STEP 5.

Assemble the Wheel units. On one end of the M3x425 mm threaded rod fix the nut by super glue. Apply on all six rods. Insert the 3,2 serrated lock washer and 3,2/9 washer on rods. Put the shorter beams into the body. Put on the fender holder on them. Then put on the longer beams and the wheel unit. Use the prepared threaded rods to hold it together. On the other side do the same. Holes for nuts on fender holder must be oriented out of the body. Put on the washers and screw on the nuts. Tighten firmly but carefully. The wheel units must be parpendicular to the body.
